Halfway Done

You and Robin work on the stairs while the others work on the walls. Robin measures the distance from sandy ground to the top of the walkway.

"Just big enough so that we can use two planks," he says, stacking two five foot planks on their narrow sides. "We can build off of these two."

As you two work, measuring and cutting, you talk a bit.

"So you and Starfire have been together for a while?"

Robin takes a moment to answer.

"Yeah, but not right from the start like you and Blackfire. It took us a year or so to admit we had feelings for each other."

It only takes about 20 minutes to make the short staircase and nail it down. Then you and Robin join the others in making the walls.

Cyborg measures out the dimensions of the walls, then cuts the trees into the right lengths.

"Alright," he says, taking a very long piece about twenty feet long and sitting it on its narrow side. "Space these studs out so that there is one every 16 inches." Cyborg points to a pile of planks only 10 feet high. "You should only need 15 of them to do that."

You work together with Starfire and Robin on the wall Cyborg started as Cyborg helps Beastboy and Flashfire make another. Blackfire and Raven work to create a third, so that there will be three 20 x 10 walls.

It only takes about 20 minutes for you three to nail the studs and the top plank in place. Then you and Starfire lift and stand the wall up, and Robin nails it to the foundations of planks. After seeing that the wall is sturdy, the three of you help Blackfire and Raven raise their wall.

Within a few hours, the stairs and all the walls, inside and out, are set up and nailed down.

"So..." you say. "How do we fill them in?"

Cyborg's eyes widen.

"Uhh..."

Cyborg takes out his built-in phone and speed-dials someone.

"Yeah, hey, we're gonna need some dry wall and spackle."

Everyone has a good laugh as they go to explore the island.
