More Work

You and Starfire head outside with him, and help chop down trees and pull up stumps.

"How much do we need?" you ask.

"About as many as we used to make the walkway and foundation, maybe a little more."

You can hear Flashfire groan.

"I'm hungry," she whines. "We haven't had anything since this morning."

Cyborg stops for a moment to check his built-in digital clock.

"It has been a few hours. A few of us can take the ship and fly to get something for lunch. I'll stay to get the roof done, so it's up to y'all to figure out who goes."

"I'll stay," you volunteer. "I wasn't here to help with the drywalling, so I should help make a roof."

"In that case," Robin says, "I'll fly the ship to the main land with Starfire and Beastboy."

"Good, that'll leave us with enough people to get the roof done by the time you get back."

Flashfire waves to Beastboy as he heads back to the ship with the others.

"Flashfire," you say. "Help me and Cyborg out."

Flashfire helps Cyborg steady the tree as you shoot a steady beam.

*BZZZZ* They push the tree through the beam in a perfect straight line, and two equal halves are made.

"So Flashfire," Cyborg asks as he picks up a half and passes it through your lazer, "did you and Beastboy find something as interesting as that Horbaloan thing Saffire found?"

Flashfire blushes and her eyes dart around.

"N-no, we didn't find anything," she says. "Just trees and dirt."

"Well then why were you two gone so long?"

You look at your sister as she fumbles with her half of the tree.

"Well, like we had figured," you answer for her, "they had gotten a little lost."

"I expect that form BB," Cyborg says, "but he was with Flashfire the whole time, and I think she would've known how to get back."

"Well, this jungle is new to me," Flashfire says. "I got all turned around and lost track of where we had been."

For some time, the only sound heard is of the lazer passing through the wood.
