"For now, I'm going to wait until my chest isn't raw." You walk over to Rabsy's "lounge," a faded couch with arm-rests that have all the stuffing beat out of them. Blackfire sits next to you.
"Are you sure you want to wait?" she asks.
"Yes, I'm sure," you reply. "And don't you go looking for them, either!" You look at Blackfire and Flashfire.
"Don't worry," Flashfire says, "if he's tough enough to scare you, I won't!"
"I am not scared of him!" You glare at your sister. "I just want to be at 100%. If he lands another corkscrew move like that on my chest, he right burn it down to the muscle tissue."
"Maybe I could kiss it," Blackfire says, her fingers walking along your chest. "Make it heal faster."
"That's not needed," you say with a smile. "Just kiss me, and my whole body will feel better."
She gives you a big smoochy kiss, and Rabsy looks at you two like he's seen someone turned inside out.
"Blue Bommer's hard core melted and gone soft, has it?"
"Soft?" you echo.
"Yeah, next thing I know you'll tell me you no longer use that double-edge technique of yours."
"What double-edge...?" Blackfire looks at you. "Does he mean Blue Explosion?"
"Trust me babe, he almost self-destructed when he first came up with it."
"What is he talking about, Saffire?" Blackfire demands.
You think for a moment, and you make your decision when you see Blackfire's stern face.
"It was some time after meeting Rabsy. I was staying here with him for a while, relaxing, working, and working out. Despite being Tamaranian, I knew I needed someting other than my blue hair and bolts to help me stand out.
I remembered that a few times when I was young, random parts of my body would jerk and fly around after I had gotten really excited and happy. My parents had deduced that it was a quirk in my Tamaranian flight ability's happy-thought trigger. So I decided to make this quirk a perk, and developed Blue Explosion.
But as Rabsy alluded to, the first time I tried it out in an actual fight, I overdid it a bit. I knew that my limbs would fly off at high speeds, straining muscles and joints, but I underestimated how bad long and continuous use could be. Basically, I hyper-extended one of my legs and nearly dislocated an arm. I still won that fight, though!"
You smile at that thought, but Blackfire frowns.
