Divide and Conquer

"Split up!" you say. "Flashfire with me, to the left. Onyx and Blackfire to the right. Go."

The two teams go their routes, keeping an eye on the Hunters in the campsite the entire time.

On your side, a Hunter truck is only a yard or two away from the edge of the forest.

"Coast is clear," you say, "go!"

You give your sister a push and she jumps out. She scurries over to the truck, and presses up against it in order to be unseen.

As she works the lock, you creep out, keeping an eye on the center of the site. You can just see the girls on the other side move out from the trees and get behind another truck.

"Got it!" Flashfire says. She pops the lock off and carefully opens the door. You slink in behind her, pocketing the lock.

There are several dozen Shadowans asleep in the truck, bound with chains. A young male, a little older than your sister, wakes up.

"Shh!" you say quietly. "We're here to rescue you."

As quietly as possible, you and Flashfire use your starbolts to lazer through the chains and cuffs of the young man and the others. In single file, the Shadowans exit the truck and run off into the forest.

You peer around the corner of the truck as the Shadowans continue to file out, and see that Blackfire and Onyx have succeeded in freeing their share of prisoners.

A Hunter sits up and looks over at the far side.

"HEY! Someone's freein' our catches!" he shouts. The hunters get up and turn their attention to the truck on the right.

"Should we go help?" Flashfire asks.

"No," you answer. "We need to stay here and make sure these Shadowans get out of here safely. They can take care of themselves."

You watch from the shadows and Blackfire and Onyx take on the Hunters.

*PEW PEW* The Hunters start shooting, only hitting the side of the truck with their lazers.

*PEW PEW* Onyx fires back, hitting a few of the Hunters in the leg or arm.

*ZAP ZAP* Blackfire shoots lazer eye beams, and the Hunters back up.

An older Shadowan man is being helped out by two adult males. The three Shadowans move a little slow, and are half way when a Hunter is forced to turn and run by Blackfire's eye beams.

"HEY!" he shouts. "There's another two freeing these catches!"

*ZING BOOM* You hit him with a bolt immediately, and he falls on his back.

"Flashfire, protect those three! I'll give cover fire!"

She moves into position, and you fire away.

*ZING ZING BOOM* and *PEW PEW PEW* sound off all over as your team fights against the Hunters.

"Saffire! They're clear!"

"Let's go!"

*WHOOSH WHOOSH* You and Flashfire fly into the air.

*ZING ZING BOOM* You fire starbolts like hail, and the ships get dented and blasted.

"Blackfire!" you shout down to the other two. "What're you doing?!"

"Onyx didn't find her parents here! She isn't leaving until we find out where they are!"
