"Well, clearly the pink ones are the proper choice," you say. "The leaves may be pointy, but that is to keep creatures from eating the fruit. Natural defenses are signs of good quality."
"Aww, I wanted the raindrop berries," she whines. "They remind me of us: blue mixed with purple."
"Well, as sweet as that is," you say, "we're sticking with pink."
Reluctantly, Blackfire helps you pick quite a few pink berries, being careful not to touch the pointy leaves. Blackfire uses the front of her skirt as a little basket to carry her berries in, and walks over to a patch of grass. You just use your hands, and join her.
"Mmm~!" she squeaks. "They're delicious!"
"See? The good berries are the ones that protect themselves!"
The Woburgins follow your lead and eat the pink berries, except they eat them right after picking.
After you finish off your serving of berries, you look around. You need a drink to wash down the berry pulp and sticky juices.
"I need a drink," you tell Blackfire. You get up and look around. You remember a stream was somewhere nearby, so you wander off.
"Let me join you," she says. "I'm thirsty too."
The two of you retrace your steps, hoping to find a stream big enough to drink from.
"There!" Blackfire exclaims. She hurries over and kneels down by a pretty good sized stream. She dips her hands and scoops up a handful of water. She sips it slowly, letting it wash the pulp and juice down. You join her, and scoop up water, gulping it down. You then use another scoop of water to wash your face off, in case any juice and pulp was still on your lips.
On the way back to where the Woburgins were, you get thirsty again. Was there still pulp in your mouth? You swab the inside of your mouth with you fingers, but find no pulp.
By the time you find the Woburgins licking their lips, satisfied with their meal, you are very thirsty. But those berries were fine, right? You were the one who said they were fine!
"Blackfire, are you thirsty?"
"No," she says. "I had plenty of water back at the stream. Maybe we should go back so you can have more."
