Val-yor's Bias

"So, Val-Yor," Blackfire says, interrupting his flirting with Onyx, "what kind of places have you been to on your adventures?"

Val-Yor seems a little annoyed, but answers.

"Well, Blackfire... I have been to several planets. Not too long ago, I was the sole fighter in a crusade against an evil species known as 'The Locrix'."

Nuh, Foxy, Onyx, and even Flashfire, gasp at that name.

"YOU took on the Locrix?!" Nuh asks in awe.

"I sure did," he says. "And I defeated THOUSANDS of them!"

All but you and Blackfire let out a "Wow..."

"Without ANY help?" Foxy asks.

"Well... I did end up going to Earth on one occasion, where I met the Teen Titans."

Your eyes widen for a moment, as do Blackfire's.

"You met the Titans?" you ask.

"Yes. And they had a Tamaranian on their team, Starfire. The Teen Titans helped me defeat the Locrix on their home planet, but I was the one who delivered the final blow with a proton detonator to their central power core."

Again, everyone but you and Blackfire say, "Wow..."

"So, Val-Yor," you speak up, "did you ever go to Tamaran? I'm sure the Locrix attacked the Tamaranians, too."

"No," he says, "I never had to." Val-Yor hesitates, choosing his words. "I suppose the Locrix were defeated by the natives."

"Well, of course," you say. "The Locrix were evil, and they were numerous, but they weren't all that tough."

"What?" Val-Yor says in disbelief. "What do you mean they weren't 'all that tough'?"

"Well, you had the Titans help you defeat them, and not too long ago, Blackfire and I took all five of them on."

"Well, I took on my sister, Starfire," Blackfire adds. "Saffire took the other four on by himself."

"That's...!" Val-Yor stops his outburst. "That's... pretty impressive, even for a Tamaranian."

"Yes, well," you say, "enough about the Locrix and the Titans, what have you been doing since then?"

"Yeah!" Nuh asks. "What did you do after such an adventure?"

"Well, Nuh," he says, "I've been helping local authorities catch all kinds of crooks, like those smugglers."
