Flying Colors

"I don't want any, they don't look like I'd like them."

"Are you sure?" Blackfire asks.

"Yes," you answer. "I'll just have a jawbreaker or something."

"Alright." Blackfire takes another bite of red cherry gummy leaf as you fly up and pluck a jawbreaker from the tree.

You pop it in your mouth and suck, as is the way to eat a jawbreaker. Blackfire sits on a branch facing the Rainbow Bird's, and join her.

"KAKAKOOO!!" it bellows again.

"Weird," you say, "why hasn't it flown away?"

"Maybe it likes us."

A rustling in a higher branch gets the birds attention, and yours. You and the bird both look up, but you don't see anything.

"KAKAKOOO!!" the bird booms, and it flaps its wings. The Rainbow Bird flies up, KAKAKOOO-ing the whole way.

Blackfire follows the bird with her eyes, still eating the red gummy leaf. More rustling in the upper branches, and more KAKAKOOOs. Suddently, something shoots down through the branches and lands on the ground. It is another bird, but it is gray and dull in color.

"HAKAHOOO!!" it hoots, its beady light-gray eyes staring at you and Blackfire.

*WHOOSH* The gray bird flies at you!
*WHOOSH CRASH* The Rainbow Bird collides with the gray bird!

You fly down off the branch, giving the birds plenty of room to fight. But wait, Blackfire didn't follow you.

"Blackfire, get down here!" you order. "You could get hurt!"

"I'm trying to!" she says. "I can't move!"
You fly back up to the branch, and look her over. She isn't stuck on sugary tree sap, or tied up in vines...
"How can you not move? There is nothing holding you here!"
"Saffire," she says a little meekly, "I think it's the gummy leaf..."
